Rochdale Case Study

Neeli Mosque and Madina Mosque in Rochdale are working in partnership with Faiths4Change to launch a "First Ever" service where the torn papers with the holy text written on it will be processed into compost. Through this project we will also raise awareness on cleaniness, recycling, waste managements and other green issues. women are also encouraged to participate as they will design hanging baskets for the mosques using the compost made from paper recycling. Project has been welcomed by the Imams and will truly demonstrate the affets of recycling to the Muslim Community helping Mosques to GO GREEN.

 
PEACE GARDEN PATHWAY

As a part of the World Environment Day Celebration, girls guide group took the lead in one day planting workshop in their Church Peace Garden. A senior citizen from St Mary's Church, Sylvia Davy says; "It was a great success as all participants thoroughly enjoyed it and all the girls are delighted that their efforts will be witnessed by the community during our village garden festival".

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
 
OUR ENVIRONMENT AND YOU

A very success full event was held in Deeplish Community Centre Rochdale on 24th March 2011. Our 100 people attended the event and were able to take advice and some free water saving devices, herb seeds, low energy bulbs. Information stalls were held by RMBC Environment Services, Rochdale Borough wide Housing Environment Team, Rochdale Healthy Living Initiative, Environment Agency,Faiths4Change and Rochdale Community Transport Association.

Cllr Farooq Ahmed,RMBC portfolio holder of finance opened the event and highlighted the importance of partnership work to deal with local environmental issues. He thanked all the agencies present and request F4C to continue supporting neighborhoods in Deeplish and Milkstone ares for cleaner and healthier environment.
