Up & Coming Events

Wing are currently planning events for later in 2011 - these will include dance, geology and of course faith, fun, food and friendship which are at the heart of everything we do! Please watch this space for more details soon.

"Rocks and Faith"   A guided walk to the geology embedded in an iconic part of Liverpool, led by a WING member, Hilary, who is a past President of the Liverpool Geology Society and co-author of guides to the geology of Liverpool and the Wirral. Hilary is an excellent speaker who makes rocks "come alive" and will be explaining her own faith approach to her subject. A special occasion - not one to miss!   When? September 15th and meet on the steps of Lime Street Station at 6.30.  The walk will last approximately one hour.

Our last event was in May 2011 - Live Simply in Practice!

Many thanks to Annie for organising such a wonderful evening at Rosemary's Garden last Thursday. It was a beautiful, peaceful place to visit and we all enjoyed it so much. It was lovely to see new faces as well as familiar ones at the event - we had a new Baha'i lady, and 3 Muslim ladies came with Faiza. We were also a good representation of Merseyside, with someone from near Ormskirk, from Southport, Liverpool and the Wirral etc   We had a very interesting tour of the garden with sustainability issues demonstrated in the vegetable and tree planting, not to mention the bee hives (did you know up to 100,000 - that's 100,000 honey bees can be in one hive??) We had our usual cup of tea and delicious snack and a good chat with one another. Time flew as always.

WING's Ethos

WING brings together women of all generations and from diverse faith and cultural backgrounds in Merseyside to learn from each other about their faith, culture and experiences. The group aims to promote good community cohesion through the women with whom it works. Regular evening events are held, to provide friendship and learning opportunities many of which will promote good environmental practices.

WING aims to create an atmosphere, which is friendly, inclusive and welcoming.

We are currently represented by women of all ages from Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, Buddhist and Baha'i faiths.

We also welcome children to our events and work hard to make the group as accessible as possible for women.

“WING for me is a precious example of the joy in making relationships with people with different backgrounds and faiths. The friendships I am making are important to me and are opening up a richer and more exciting understanding of the world.”

Our aims are...

  • Faith
  • Friendship
  • Food
  • Fun
