WING generally engages women of different faiths through events, although sometimes it delivers themed projects such as a series of lectures or linked events such as the Environmental Project in 2009/10
The Environmental Project
With the support of faiths4change WING has been able to develop a series of workshops with an environmental theme. These have included:
- Wirral Wild flower walk hosted by the Christian Science Church
- Reusing left over food workshop hosted by Liverpool Hindu temple
- Recyled Christmas Decorations hosted by St Cleopas Anglican Church and led by a Hindu artist
- Mini Swap shop - swapping items hosted by the chaplain for Mission in the Economy
- Judasim and Ecology: A talk at the Liverpool Jewish Youth Centre looking at the significance of the environment in Jewish law and life
- Bunting workshop reusing fabric and researching and decorating with religious symbols hosted by Soka Gakkai International Buddhist community with food prepared in a Zen Buddhist style hosted at Liverpool Quakers
“Women in faith enjoy each others company, share their faith story, eat food that is exciting and I look forward to the next gathering.”
“WING has given me a circle of friendship where we celebrate our different faith and cultures in lots of fun ways and above all, as women, we all feel empowered by the unity.” |
